Howdy y'all. Thanks for the feedback regarding the first shot at a demo. We've gone ahead and made a few quick changes to hopefully smooth things out a bit and make the game more... well... game-like!

Things  Added:

  • The Altar:  
    • The game is finally winnable. I don't just mean balance wise, I mean we added a win condition so you can actually beat the game instead of running around trying to get a high score. Collect 10 lanterns and return to the Altar in the center of the forest to complete the ritual.
  • More UI: 
    • A few small quality of life changes including prompts, and a couple text pop-ups. Sorry we didn't really explain the flash mechanic very well.

Things Changed:

  • Shadow Spawning: 
    • We'd run into an issue with "the shadow", or more specifically the issue was with "the shadow" running into us after spawning directly on top of the player. This has been fixed. "The shadow" will now spawn further away, to give players enough time to react.
  • Lantern Spawning: 
    • Sometimes the lantern would spawn in the same location multiple times. This was not intended. It has been fixed.
  • Flash Radius: 
    • The flashlight felt a little too long, and a little too narrow. It has been changed to be more effective in close range, rather than a cross map sniper.
  • Difficulty Ramp: 
    • To balance the reduced spawning of "the shadow" and the better close range flash we've implemented a slight adjustment to the battery drain, and "the shadow's" chase mechanic. As the player collects more lanterns and gets closer to the goal of completing the ritual, the battery drain, and aggressiveness of "the shadow" will increase.
  • Texture Issues: 
    • Some Textures that needed to be crisp were blurry. It has been fixed.
